FAQ
Q: Is the SW6DERA a direct replacement for the older SW6DEA hot water system?
Yes. The Suburban SW6DERA is the WaterMark-approved replacement for the SW6DEA. It has been designed with the same external dimensions and mounting layout, allowing it to fit into the same location without requiring modifications to the caravan. The unit uses the same 325 mm × 325 mm cut-out size and mounting screw pattern as the earlier model.
Q: Will my existing gas and water connections fit the new heater?
In most cases, yes. The SW6DERA uses 1/2" BSP water inlet and outlet connections and a 3/8" SAE gas inlet, positioned the same as the previous SW6DEA model. However, if existing fittings are seized, worn, or a different type, adaptors or replacement fittings may be required, as these are not supplied with the unit.
Q: Is the door included?
Yes – it comes supplied with a black service door.
Q: What is included with the SW6DERA hot water system?
The heater is supplied as a complete unit and includes the 20 L gas/240 V hot water system, black external access door, 12V / 240V switch plate with wiring loom, pressure relief valve, magnesium anode, and an installation manual.
Q: What space do I need to allow when installing this heater?
The main unit measures 320 mm (H) x 320 mm (W) x 500 mm (D), not including the rear pipe connections. The supplied external door measures 380 mm x 380 mm, and the heater is designed to fit a 325 mm x 325 mm wall cut-out, matching the mounting size used on the SW6DEA.
Q: How much hot water does it produce?
It recovers 40L per hour at a 45°C rise
Q: What size fittings are required?
-
Water inlet: 3/8” BSP (SKU 800-02218)
-
water outlet is the same size as inlet.
-
Gas inlet: 3/8” flare
Q: How often should I check the anode?
Check the anode every 6 months. Replace it when worn to prevent damage. Use only Suburban designed anode's rods (SKU 950-01140 or 950-01148).
Q: What is the tank made from?
The tank is made from porcelain-lined, high-tensile steel with a genuine Suburban anode rod for corrosion protection.
Q: What are the power requirements?
-
12V DC for gas ignition
-
240V AC for electric element (6A circuit recommended)
